Barber, age 71, of Zanesville, Ohio passed away October 31, 2015 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio.He was born on November 12, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Kenneth J. and Kathryn (O'Brien) Barber. Also preceded him in death was a brother Joe W. Barber. He was a Airforce and Reserves veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He then worked and retired from Time Warner Cable after 40 years as a Chief Engineer in Zanesville.He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Zanesville, the Eagles and
Moose Clubs, American Legion, he loved animals and nature and planted many trees in National Forest, loved Ohio State Football, spending time with his children and grandchildren, a avid hunter, fisherman and gardener, he loved his special little buddy "Willie", he pioneered Zanesville Cable television system, was the founding member of the first cable television center and museum at the University of Denver and loved to watch how cable technology progress over the years, a dedicated blood donor and advocate for the Red Cross and the American Heart and .Jon is survived by his wife, Linda S. (Ford) Barber of Zanesville and whom he married on February 16, 1967; a daughter, Dawn M. (Bob) Marks of Chicago, IL, two sons, Larry R. Barber of Claysville, Jon D. Barber II of Zanesville; three grandchildren, Aiden, Ava and Bella Marks; two brothers, Dennis (Sharon) Barber of Akron and Larry (Margaret "Chewy") Barber of Conicville, Virginia.Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 on Monday, November 2, 2015 and from 11:00 to 1:00 on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 1:00 with Pastor Keith Leach officiating. Burial in Zion Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
