VERSAILLES – Jon Edward Agne, 87, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at 8:13 p.m. at the Versailles Health Care Center, Versailles, Ohio. He was born on May 17, 1929, in Prattville, Mich., to the late Augustus W. "Gus" and Lydia "Angela" (Hall) Agne.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jane (Goodall) Agne whom he married on March 4, 1951; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Chris Agne of Greenville, and Jeff and Monica Agne of Troy, Ohio; grandchildren, Shawn (Mindy) Agne, Jessica (Ken) Koch, Timothy (Misty) Agne, Michelle (Ben) Dickstein, Craig (Julia) Agne, Lisa (Chris) King, Kyle Agne and Jenelle Agne; great-grandchildren, Natalie Agne, Carter Koch, Sam Agne, Cooper Koch, Clara Dickstein, William King and Charlotte Agne; siblings, Paul Agne of Versailles, Max (Elaine) Agne of Shelbyville, Ky., Marilyn (Larry) Warner of Eaton, Ohio, and Thelma Agne of Battle Creek, Mich.; as well numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Brad Agne; grandson, Christopher Agne; sisters, Pauline Williams and Marguerite Davis; brothers, Robert and Don Agne; as well as a sister at infancy.
Jon was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Versailles, Ohio, and was a member of the United States Air Force. He was a teacher working at Eaton, Greenville, Ft. Recovery and Hardin Schools before retiring in the 1980's. After retirement, he volunteered at Lehman Schools. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, planes and cars.
There will be a service held on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Versailles, Ohio, with Pastor Bob Akins officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Versailles, with a graveside military service conducted by the Versailles Honor Guard.. Family will receive friends on Sunday one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio.
It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Versailles Emergency Medical Services.
