Revered husband of Belinda, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and compadre, Jose "Ladd" Gutierrez, passed away unexpectedly in San Antonio, TX on February 27th, 2015. A man of uncommon warmth and good-humored unselfish friendship, Jose will be deeply missed by so many. Jose Aladino Gutierrez was born on September 11th, 1947 in Bernal, NM. Thrust into adulthood early, Jose helped his newly widowed mother to support his family. Mischievous and loyal to his friends Norman Aguilar and Harry Christensen, he graduated from Santa Fe High in 1965. He joined the Air Force and served from 1965-1968 as an Airman First Class. Proudly serving his country, he was in Vietnam from 1967-1968. Married to Kathy Lowrance in 1969, they had three boys, Daniel, Jason, and Jeffrey. Teaching his sons to camp, fish, and laugh, he was an adored father. Jose worked for the Los Alamos National Laboratory for 30 years in Health Physics in the Radiation Protection Unit. Married to the love of his life for the last 20 years, Belinda, they created a sublime life of travel, arts and crafts, and parenthood to Karen, Michael, and Kathryn. After retirement, they became avid RV enthusiasts, traveling the country and building a strong community of friendship on the Texas Gulf Coast as a "Winter Texan." Jose also loved leather working and the Green Bay Packers. He was a member of the American Legion and the Vietnam Veterans of America. Jose is survived by wife Belinda; sons Gutierrez: Daniel (Cathann), Jason, and Jeffrey (Emily); daughter Karen Harrigan Ladd (Butch), son Michael Harrigan (Lindsey Knight), and Kathryn Harrigan (Walter Greenwood); siblings Marie Gutierrez y Alarid (Richard), Loretta Archuleta (Joe), and Brenda Sais (Joey); grandchildren Mia and Kadiah (Daniel and Cathann), Sebastian, Miranda, and Sophia (Jeffrey and Emily), and John Peter (Kathryn and Walter); Belinda's siblings: Norma Ramirez, Jose R. Ramirez (Tamie), Minerva Apodaca (Tony), Delpha Maunders (Andy).Jose was preceded in death by father Ramon Gutierrez, mother Nora Carter, brother Ernest Gutierrez, and step-father Jim Carter.Military internment of Jose's urn to be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:15 am on Thursday, March 5th. Celebration of Life to follow at Beradinelli's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Jose supported the Disabled American Veterans and Paralyzed Veterans of America.
