Revered husband of Belinda, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and compadre, Jose "Ladd" Gutierrez, passed away unexpectedly in San Antonio, TX on February 27th, 2015. A man of uncommon warmth and good-humored unselfish friendship, Jose will be deeply missed by so many. Jose Aladino Gutierrez was born on September 11th, 1947 in Bernal, NM. Thrust into adulthood early, Jose helped his newly widowed mother to support his family. Mischievous and loyal to his friends Norman Aguilar and Harry Christensen, he graduated from Santa Fe High in 1965. He joined the Air Force and served from 1965-1968 as an Airman First Class. Proudly serving his country, he was in Vietnam from 1967-1968. Married to Kathy Lowrance in 1969, they had three boys, Daniel, Jason, and Jeffrey. Teaching his sons to camp, fish, and laugh, he was an adored father. Jose worked for the Los Alamos National Laboratory for 30 years in Health Physics in the Radiation Protection Unit. Married to the love of his life for the last 20 years, Belinda, they created a sublime life of travel, arts and crafts, and parenthood to Karen, Michael, and Kathryn. After retirement, they became avid RV enthusiasts, traveling the country and building a strong community of friendship on the Texas Gulf Coast as a "Winter Texan."
