Harlingen - Jose G. Villarreal, 86, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017. Mr. Villarreal was born on September 10, 1930 in San Benito, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Delia C. Villarreal. Mr. Villarreal is survived by his children Carlos Villarreal, Michael (Sallie) Villarreal, Melinda (William) Hockaday, Victor (Alayne) Villarreal all of Harlingen and Betsy (Trinidad) Galdean of Wichita, Kansas. Also, 9 grandchildren, Julie, Joseph, Christopher, Sarah, Caroline, Jamie, Anthony, Josaih, and AbigailHe is also survived by his brothers Nicho Villarreal of McAllen and Julio Villarreal of Harlingen. Mr. Villarreal was a businessman and wonderful provider for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was very kind and generous and tried to help his customers as much as he could. He was an avid sports man playing sports, coaching sports, and starting the Harlingen Youth Football League. Later, Joe could be seen on the golf course almost daily. He opened and ran Grapette Bottling Company and later opened Villarreal Auto Mart. Joe and Delia worked together 6 days a week and still had time for all of their kids and their activities. Now, they are together through eternity. A special thanks to his nurses, especially Marta Salinas who took wonderful care of him for the past four years.Visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2017 with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at San Benito Funeral Home Chapel.
