Joseph Matthew Galligan, 86, of Spotsylvania County, VA passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024.

Born in Philadelphia, a child of Irish Immigrants, Joe was an older brother to three sisters.

Joe was a Vietnam War veteran, proudly retiring from the United States Marine Corps after 22 years of service and receiving numerous honors. He set an example of patriotism for his children and extended family, establishing a family legacy of Marine Corps service.

After his military retirement, Joe worked in the auto industry and later owned his own trucking business where he was known as the “Irish Rover”. A gifted teller of unbelievable stories and colorful jokes.

Joe will be remembered fondly as a brother, husband, father, Poppy, and friend to those who knew him. He was a man who lived large and with great daring, he will be sorely missed.
