DOVER Joseph A. Sweeney, 52, passed away on March 26, 2015. Joseph was born on February 1, 1963 in Lexington, Ky. He graduated in 1981 from Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin, N.J. He went on to attend St. Vincent College in Latrobe and then Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J., where he graduated in 1985. After completing his degree, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant in C Company, 1st Battalion, 66th Armored Regt., 2nd Armored Division. After he left the Army, Joe worked as a civilian at Fort Monmouth, N.J. and most recently at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. He had been working in the tactical radio program for many years and was respected by many in the tactical communication community as the testing subject matter expert. Joe had a great love for history, especially Military History, with his primary research being the Great War (WWI). He had specific interest in the British and French Armies, and was admired and respected worldwide for his superb knowledge in these areas, even writing several articles for a French Militaria Magazine. Joe was a great man, intelligent, kind and compassionate towards animals. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor and will be sorely missed by his family, friends and co-workers. He is survived by his widow, Lisa, of Dover Township; his sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Rodney Konzelmann; his niece, Sarah Konzelmann; and nephew, Rodney Konzelmann, all of Chatsworth, N.J.; his aunt, Sadie Stepnoski of North Carolina; and numerous cousins. Joe has been cremated and will be interred with his parents in the Brig. General William C. Doyle Military Cemetery in Wrightstown, N.J.
