Joseph Joe and Joan M. RuffoloJoseph Joe Ruffolo, 91, and Joan M. Ruffolo, 77, passed away within days of one another. Joe passed away on Feb. 11, 2014, and Joan passed away on Feb. 15, 2014.Joseph was born on Jan. 17, 1923, in Kenosha and was the son of the late Salvatore and Louisa (Covelli) Ruffolo. He attended local schools and was a graduate from Kenosha High School. Joe also attended the University of Wisconsin Extension. Joe honorably served in the Army Signal Corps. Joan was born on Jan. 2, 1937, in Kenosha and was the daughter of the late Attilio and Natalina Monticello. Joan earned her Bachelors Degree from U.W. Parkside and achieved her Masters Degree from U.W. Milwaukee. The two were married on May 21, 1955. Their union was blessed with two children.For many years, Joe owned and operated Fashion Drapery and Carpet Company in Kenosha. Joan was employed as a social worker with Kenosha County, working a majority of her time at Brookside Care Center.Joe was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and Joan was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Joe was also a member of the former Elks Lodge #750 in Kenosha, Kenosha Noon Lions Club and St. Ann Alpine Club. Joan was a devoted wife and mother and she dedicated her life to her family. They were both very proud of their Italian heritage. Joe played an important part of preserving their many traditions and customs. What they learned from their parents will be continued for generations. Joe and Joan are survived by two children, Angela (Kent) Morton and Frank Ruffolo; their four grandchildren, Eric and Josephine Ruffolo and Mariella and Austen Morton; and their five great grandchildren, Erick, William, Dominic, Mateo and Giuliana Ruffolo.Joe is further survived by his brother, Albert (Lucille) Ruffolo, and Joan is further survived by her brother, Joseph (Pat) Monticelli.In addition to their parents, Joe was preceded in death by three brothers, Bennie, Carl and Frank Ruffolo; and his sister, Mary Caputo. Joan was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Monticello; and her sister, HelenFuneral Services will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
