Joseph Anthony "Joe" Reeve Joseph Anthony "Joe" Reeve, age 76, of Bluffton/Hilton Head, SC and formerly of Syracuse, NY died Friday, April 8, 2016 at National Health Care-Bluffton. Mr. Reeve was born on March 6, 1940 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late Harvey Reeve and Loretta Ropella Reeve. He was a graduate of Pius High School in Milwaukee where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. He began his formal education at General Motors Institute on a work study program which afforded him a full scholarship to MIT because of his academic achievements. From MIT he earned his Master's Degrees in Mechanical Engineering as well as Electrical Engineering. Following graduation he attended Harvard Law School, but ultimately decided not to pursue a career in law. He began his career working for GE in research and development, while subsequently earning his MBA from Syracuse University. After eight years with GE, he decided to start his own business, Reeve Builders, which he operated for eight years until relocating to South Carolina. Joe continued sharing his talents in designing and building under the ownership of Reeve Construction Co., which he operated for 31 years until retiring at the age of 72. Outside of work he enjoyed golf, of which he was an avid player as well as traveling. Mr. Reeve is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Claudette F. Reeve; children, Michael P. Reeve of Boulder, CO, Elizabeth M. Beaudette (Brigadier General Francis Beaudette, US Army) of Fort Bragg, NC, and Christopher A. Reeve (Elizabeth) of El Dorado Hills, CA; brother, Michael P. Reeve (Mary) of Cazenovia, NY; and grandchildren, Caroline, Alex, Eric, and Colin. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alissa Reeve. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2016 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC 29909.
