Joseph B. Carney89, of Indianapolis, passed away on August 31, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born on July 8, 1928 in Greensburg, IN. Joseph graduated from DePauw University ('50) and Harvard Law School ('53).  He practiced law at Baker and Daniels in Indianapolis for many years.  He was active in the fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, Northwood Christian Church, and the Parkinson's Awareness Association of Central Indiana.Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Carney, and survived by his four children Elizabeth (George), Jay (Beth), Julia, and Sarah (Nathan), and his eleven grandchildren:  Liesl (Adam), Hayden, and Faith Carney, Joseph (Anna), Sarah Beth, Rebecca, and Benjamin Comfort, and Jenny, Rachael, Holly, and Heather Kempfer.Visitation will be held at Flanner & Buchanan - Broad Ripple on Thursday, September 7 from 4 - 8 p.m.  Funeral services will be celebrated at Northwood Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8, with a one hour visitation prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to:  PAACI or Indiana University Center of Aging Research.  www.flannerbuchanan.com
