Joseph Benny Martin LUBBOCK-Joseph Benny Martin, 75, of Lubbock passed away on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016. Mr. Martin was born on Oct. 29, 1940, in Lubbock, Texas, to Joseph and Olive (Payne) Martin. He married Jo Ann (Harris) in Lubbock, Texas, on Oct. 10, 1964. Benny was a very well respected banker in Lubbock, Texas, for 39 years, working for First National Bank for 20 years, and Lubbock National Bank for 19 years, where he retired after serving as Executive Vice President, CFO, and Secretary to the Board. He enjoyed spending time at their mountain cabin in Ruidoso with his wife, Jo Ann. They also loved spending time together working in their yard which was always immaculate. Most of all, Mr. Martin was a family man, and was devoted to his grandchildren, supporting all of their activities and events. Benny was a man known for his honesty and integrity, and was well respected by many. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, David Mark Martin. Benny is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jo Ann; two daughters, Rhonda and husband, James Bell, Kim and husband, Chad Walker. Mr. Martin was also blessed with four grandchildren, Trevor Bell and wife, Laura, Court Walker, Addyson Walker, Macy Martin; and one great-granddaughter, Ava Bell. He also leaves behind his sister, Fran Brookshire. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at Lakeridge United Methodist Church.
