Joseph C. Johnson aka “Joe” 71, a resident and activist of Adam Clayton Powell JR. BLVD in Harlem NY, died Thursday December 19, 2019 at his residence following a long time illness battling colon cancer. 

 

Joe was born August 7, 1948. He was the son of the late Franklin G. and Ella Mae (Bridges) Johnson. Joe was a well respected and very articulate man. He was a 1974 graduate of Columbia University. 

 

Joe loved to travel and explore every place he went. His family was his pride and joy and he was so proud of his accomplishments. He would always say his children were his biggest accomplishment and blessing of them all. 

 

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Louise Jean, whom he married May 8, 1976. His daughter Lisa and three sons Joel, Jonathan and Jesse. Joe also leaves behind , four grandsons Earnest, Roy, Matthew and Marcus who were the light of his life. A sister, Pat Shepard and a brother Gary Johnson along with several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
