He first moved to Canada when he was 20 years old, living there 2 years before moving to Ohio. He lived in Ohio for around 10 years where he owned and ran a Machine shop and later a bakery. He was a proud American, though never forgetting his German roots.
Destiny found him when he decided to sell his home to a man from houston, who had worked at NASA. Excited about the opportunities that Houston might provide, he moved there where he worked for NASA for 2 years.
After that he worked for Mobil for 30 years as a maintainance supervisor, finally retiring in 1998 due to health concerns.
Joe loved life, work and his family. He spent much of the last 20 years of his life in his beloved refuge in San Pancho, Puerto Vallarta. A place that became his home. Never taking it for granted, in San Pancho he made beautiful memories, friendships and found profund peace living next to the ocean. He was a lover of hard work, an ice cold beer on a sunny afternoon, and would never turn down a good German meal.
He will be deeply missed.
