Caldarera, Joseph Eugene Of Tempe, Arizona, died Sunday, October 4, 2015, of natural causes, just shy of his 90th birthday. He was born on October 7, 1925, at Springfield, Missouri, to Josephine Caldarera. Gene served his country in the United States Navy during World War II for three years. During the war, his unit played a part of the Phillippine Liberation and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign where he earned a Victory Medal. Gene entered college in 1946 and graduated with a BS degree in Business Administration. His advanced studies took him to Michigan State University where he earned a Master's Degree in Hotel and Food Management. While attending Kansas University, Gene met and fell in love with Kathleen Brady. Shortly after, in 1949, they were married. Kathy and Gene have been married for over 64 years and raised three children together: Dan Caldarera, Ann Marie Bakker, and Tom Caldarera. They shared six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Gene worked for Boeing Aircraft Company for 40 years and started as a Procurement Manager. During his tenure at Boeing, Gene held jobs increasing responsibility as his careeer advanced. He retired from Boeing in 1991, and soon therafter, Kathy and Gene moved to Arizona to enjoy their golden years. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 15, at Church of the Resurrection Church in Tempe. Gene will be buried at the National Cemetery with arrangements handled by Messinger Funeral Home of Tempe.
