FRAGALA Joseph, "Joe", 92, of Paramus, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 after a period of failing health. Before retiring in 1991, Joseph worked in the Traffic Maintenance Dept. for the Boro of Paramus. He was a 25-year member of the Paramus Planning Board and a former member of UNICO. Joe was born on December 14, 1924 to Carmela and Mario Fragala. The youngest of six he was pre-deceased by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. He was an Army veteran who served our country proudly during World War II. Joe played professional baseball with the NY Giants. He played third base and was a tremendous athlete. Joe was known for his wit, wisdom and infectious smile. He was most proud of his family who meant the world to him. He instilled in his children a great work ethic and most especially a commitment to family. Joe's commitment to his family was to be admired - he would drive hours for any member of his family or friend if they were in need. Joe was an amazing cook graciously cooking for holidays and Sunday pasta. Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Gloria (nee Sodaro), the love of his life, as well as his beloved grandson, Travis J Fragala. Beloved father of, Jody Fragala and his partner Joan Shapiro, Corinne O'Shea and her husband Tim and Lori Fochesato and her husband Paul. He was the most beloved grandfather to Sean O'Shea and his wife Shannon, Christopher O'Shea and his wife Lauren, Alyssa O'Shea, Ahna Lanfranchi and Connor and Dylan Fragala. Adored great-grandfather of Phoebe Klein. Family will receive friends on Wednesday March 8, 2017 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm and Thursday March 9, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home 113 South Farview Avenue, Paramus, NJ. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday March 10, 2017 at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Paramus, NJ. Entombment at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
