Bishop Joseph J. Madera M.Sp.SCulver City, CABishop Joseph Madera Uribe, M.Sp.S. age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2017. He was born on November 27, 1927 in San Francisco, California to the union of Jesus Madera Flores and Paz Uribe Santana. Bishop Joseph Madera was raised in El Grullo, Jalisco, Mexico along with his seven siblings. He is survived by his sister, Carmen Madera. Bishop Madera belonged to the congregation of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit. He professed as religious on March 10th 1948. He was ordained as a Priest on June 15, 1957. He served as priest in the Archdioceses of Los Angeles for 15 years. Then he was ordained Bishop for the diocese of Fresno, California on March 4 , 1980. He served as Auxiliary Bishop for Catholic Archdioceses for the Military Services of the United States of America in May 28, 1991. Bishop Madera retired on September 15th 2004.
