Koneczka, Joseph E.Joseph E. Koneczka, age 81, a Manitowoc resident, died Wednesday afternoon, October 31, 2012 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.He was born on September 16, 1931 in Manitowoc, son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Migacz) Koneczka. Joe was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. He was a Veteran of the United States
Army serving from 1952 - 1954 in the 76th Engineers, being transferred to United Nations Armistice Commission, where he was involved in the signing of the Armistice. Joe was very proud to be a
Korean War Veteran. On August 2, 1952 he married the former Alice M. (Elsie) Stachura at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on July 16, 2008. Joe was employed at Cher-Make Sausage Company as a sausage maker, retiring in 1990 after 43 years of employment. After his retirement he owned and operated JK Distributing. He was a member of the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88, Knights of Columbus 710 Council, St. Mary's Mens Club, NRA and was affiliated with Boy Scouts of America, being a past cub master. Joe lived for spending time up north and having coffee at Goudowicz Store. He enjoyed spending time at deer camp, fishing, golfing, spending time with family up north, mushroom picking, picking wild asparagus and playing sheepshead and cribbage. Joe was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan.Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Kathy & Perry Kingsbury, Wrightstown; a son and daughter-in-law: Joseph & Diane Koneczka, Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Justin (Valerie) Kingsbury, Two Rivers, Kristen (Ross) Seefeldt, Valders; a step grandson: Kyle Herzog (fiancee Nicole Daehn); a great grandson: Barrett Kingsbury; a sister: Theresa Cisler, Manitowoc; and four sisters-in-law: Monica Omernick, Stevens Point, Clara Gorka, Mosinee, Barbara Simonis, Knowlton and Stella Stachura, Stevens Point. Also surviving are special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law: Sylvester & Leona Koneczka; three sisters and four brothers-in-law: Louise Schmidt, Johanna (Clement) Sprang, Marie (Paul) Balko, Henry Cisler; and two sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Pleier. Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and Joe will be laid to rest at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88.The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 until 10:45 a.m.In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Joe's name.Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting
