Joseph Matthew Ouellette52, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017. He was born on December 3, 1964 in Ft. Wayne, IN to Joseph C. and H. Joanne (Faurote) Ouellette.Matt was a 1983 graduate of Lawrence Central High School served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. While serving in the USAF he studied insurance and following his honorable discharge, began working for M. M. Johnson Claims Service as a Claims Trainee; eventually advancing to Claims Manager in the Indianapolis office. In 2000 he resigned his position to open his own business, Ouellette and Associates, and currently served as Owner and President. Matt was also very active in the Insurance Claims associations, serving as an officer in various organizations. He was a member of the Central Insurance Claims Association, NSPII Association, PLRB, ITLA Association and the National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters. In 2016 Matt served as President of NAIIA; earning him the honor of being recognized as a Past President of NAIIA in 2017.In his free time he could be found skiing on Geist Reservoir, driving his 1969 Orange Firebird and enjoying time spent with his children.Matt is survived by his 4 children, Joseph Nathan Ouellette, Steven Andrew Ouellette, Ashley Marie Ouellette, Jon Eric Ouellette; father, Joseph C. Ouellette; siblings, Stephanie (Terry) Root, Rose (Rudy) French, Steven (Jan) Ouellette, Greg Carmean, Kevin (Nicole) Carmean, Kimberly (Didier) Somia, Michael Ouellette; along with several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former spouses, Sharon Ouellette-Wininger and Michelle Ouellette.Matt was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Ouellette, who passed away on August 13, 2007.A memorial gathering will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan - Washington Park East.
