Joseph J. NewellPHILO: Joseph "Joe" Junior Newell, 86, formerly of Philo, passed away on May 31, 2016 at Genesis Hospital.Joseph was born on July 28, 1929 in Zanesville, the son of the late Lavellen and Helen (Weakley) Newell. He worked for Essex Wire on Ceramic Avenue until he went to work for the Ohio Ferro Alloy in Philo; he retired from Franklin Local School District where he worked as a bus driver. He had a love of music, and enjoyed playing his guitar and banjo. He also enjoyed spending time in his garden and most especially spending time with his family. He was a faithful member of the Shelter House Assembly of God Church in Gaysport. Joseph is the second father to Jacqueline Burleigh of South Zanesville, Joe (Susan) Rowland, Mary (Terry) Bonnett and James (Janice) Rowland all of Zanesville; his grandchildren Samantha (Greyson), David (Krista), Shawn, Jonathon and Loralynne; his great-grandchildren Reagan, Archer, Arabella, Amanda and Hunter; his sister Donna McDaniels; numerous nieces and nephews and a special niece and nephew Cindy and Randy. In addition to his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years Minta "Minnie" Newell who passed away October 25, 2015; siblings Mary Corder, Daisy and his brother Buzz Newell.Visitations will be 11 to 1pm on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be held at 1 pm with Joe Rowland officiating.
