Joseph P. Raftery Joseph P. Raftery, age 78, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Duxbury, MA died Sunday, October 9, 2016 at his home. Mr. Raftery was born on July 19, 1938 in New York City, NY, the son of the late Patrick Raftery and Theresa McGrath Raftery. He was a graduate of Manhattan College and following his formal education served in the United States Army as a Reservist. He began his career as a Listings Director with the New York Stock Exchange and later worked with the Boston Stock Exchange, retiring as a Corporate Secretary. He enjoyed woodworking and furniture making and loved being a jokester. Mr. Raftery is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Arlene M. Raftery; sons,LTC Brian W. Raftery, U.S. Army (Ret.) (Mary Therese) and Michael A. Raftery (Michelangelo Apodaca); daughter, Laura E. Raftery (David Blake); grandchildren,2LT Matthew Raftery, U.S. Army, serving in Iraq (Elizabeth), PFC Sean Raftery, U.S. Army, Kiera Blake, and Erin Blake. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 21, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.
