Joseph "Joe" P. Sviatko Joseph "Joe" P. Sviatko of Seville, Ohio, 86, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2016. He was born on March 17, 1930 to Michael and Mary Sviatko in Medina, Ohio. His lifelong love of farming began on his childhood farm where he enjoyed helping out with farm chores and fishing. He graduated from Medina High School in 1947. That year, he met Margaret (Peg) Elmerick, and they married in 1953. He honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957, and while serving in Germany, he participated on the pistol team. During his life, he worked at various local businesses including Cowling Feed Grinding Services and Elm Farm Dairy delivering milk. Joe and Peg bought their first farm in 1959, when he also began working as a well tender for Columbia Gas Company. In 1966, he moved his family to a farm on Guilford Road where they raised their four children: Paul, Laura, Mary, and Jennifer. He raised crops, cattle, hogs, and helped kids exhibit sheep and hogs at the Medina County Fair. In 1987, he retired from the gas company to farm full time with his son. He passed many happy, satisfying hours planting crops and bailing hay. He traveled the area to hay auctions, and no matter the weather he was there. He was so proud of his son, following in his footsteps as a farmer, and his daughters serving as health care professionals. He loved to play Euchre and go to casinos. Joe enjoyed going to his grandchildren's activities, including baseball, basketball, football, motocross, and dog agility. Joe was a giving and caring person who will be missed by all who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, John Pusta, Thomas Sviatko, Michael Sviatko, and Mary Struzynski, Veronica Molino. Joe is survived by his wife, Peg of 63 years; his children, Paul (Michelle) Sviatko of Ashland Ohio, Laura (Bob) Kincaid of Wooster Ohio, Mary (Andrew) Johnson of Flagstaff Arizona, and Jenny (John) Maley of North Canton Ohio. Grandchildren: Alyssa Kincaid, Joe Kincaid, Trevor Maley, and Matthew Sviatko. The world lost a good and wonderful man and will be greatly missed by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2016, at Our Lady Help Christians, 60 High St., Seville, OH 44273. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 - 6 p.m.. on Sunday, November 20, at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina.
