World War II and the
Korean War, where he fought bravely at The Battle of Chosin Reservoir, Joseph received multiple military service awards, including those for combat. Joseph was born on February 5,1925in Brooklyn, NY to Vincenzo and Catarina Parlapiano. In 1943, he joined the Marine Corps. Joseph's late brothers, Paul and Charles, whom he loved dearly, also served bravely in World War II, as members of the Navy and Army, respectively. Joseph was a brave and loyal soldier, as well as a patient and loving husband and father. He married Josephine Parlapiano in Brooklyn, NY in 1960. This was his greatest love, and one that never wavered.He is survived by his wife, Josephine; daughters, Lisa, Dawn and Lora; and his sister Ginny. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Charles, and sister Julie.Visiting will be Wednesday from 9am to 10 am at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:30 am Wednesday at St. Maximilian Kolbe R. C. Church, Berkeley Twp. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations in Joseph's name, to be sent to Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity or NOHFH 1187 Washington Street Suite 3 Toms River, NJ 08753.
