Joseph D. PhillipsLAGRANGEVILLE - Joseph D. Phillips, 33, died unexpectedly on August 8, 2017. Joseph was born on September 28, 1983 in Savanna, GA and was raised in the Poughkeepsie area. He was a 2002 graduate of Arlington High School, attended Richmond University, and received his Master's Degree from St. Leo University.Sgt. 1st Class Phillips proudly served our country in the US Army from 2004 until his retirement in 2011, and had served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait during Operating Enduring Freedom. As a decorated soldier, Joseph was the recipient of many awards and medals including the
Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War of Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Marksmanship Qual Badge, and Driver and Mechanic Badge. He was also a proud member of the Audy Murphy Club.Joseph is survived by his wife, Siobhan Malcolm Phillips; his children, Zhamira, Arianna, and Amare; his sisters, Kesha Killpatrick and Deann McDonald; his brothers, Xavier Rouse, Judon Rouse, and Jerry Green, Jr.; his first cousins, Marvise Rennalles, Gary Thomas, Jr., and Kelly Thomas; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Brinkman and Marlene Malcolm; his brother-in-law, Omar Malcolm; his sister-in-law, Nadia Malcolm; his stepfather, Leroy Rouse; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Jerry Green and Cheryl O. Phillips-Rouse. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
