Joseph "Jimmy" Saiz Jimmy Saiz, 65, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born on May 26, 1944 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He grew up in San Diego and received his B.A. degree from San Diego State University and later, his Juris Doctorate from Western State College of Law. Following his military stint as a naval officer, Jimmy began his 35-year-career in the hotel industry. He worked for numerous hotel chains across the country and held positions ranging from on-site management to corporate executive. Often, he served in community/ state leadership roles on the Convention and Visitors Bureaus, and Hotel and Lodging Associations. Most recent, he was owner/ director of The Detail Shop of Olympia. Highest on Jimmy's list of priorities was his "happy family". He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (his high school sweetheart); daughter, Melissa Matheny (Mike); son, Zachary (Valerie); grandson, Collin; mother, Teresa; sisters, Rebecca Tuttle and Helen Schlesinger; brother, Bernard Sena, Jr.; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jimmy's family especially enjoyed his huge ability to love, his passion and appreciation for life, his positivism, integrity, his endless "words of wisdom", and his intellect. A private memorial service is planned for November 5, 2009 at Ft. Rosecrans, San Diego. Donations can be made to Thurston County Food Bank and/or Thurston County Animal Services.
