Joseph Vincent FlahertyMoultonborough, NHJoseph Vincent Flaherty, 86, of Moultonborough, NH, and Vero Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2017, surrounded by family in New Hampshire. He lived in Scarsdale, NY, for 35 years and spent his summer weekends on Lake Winnipesaukee. After retirement, he shared his time between Moultonborugh, NH and Vero Beach, FL.He was born on June 26, 1931 in Boston, MA, the son of Joseph A. Flaherty and Katherine G. MacDonald Flaherty. Born and raised in Milton, MA, he attended Milton High School, graduated from Boston College in 1954 and then volunteered to serve in the
Korean War. He went on to a successful 40-year career in the paper industry starting as a sales trainee with International Paper Company in Chicago, IL, became co-founder of Penntech Papers in Johnsonburg, PA, and retired as Executive Vice President of Central National Gottesman Inc. in Purchase, NY. He loved to play golf, work in his woodshop, read three newspapers daily, mentor young people, and spend time with his adoring grandchildren.He is survived by his beloved wife; Terry Ann Jacobs Flaherty of 57 years, daughter; Katherine M. Flaherty of Chicago, Il, his son; Joseph V. Flaherty, Jr. and daughter in law; Wyndham Q. Flaherty of Wellesley, MA, his son; Matthew J. Flaherty of Denver, CO, his sister; Ann K. Whelan of Cohasset, MA, and four grandchildren; Lindsay R. Flaherty and Joseph V. Flaherty, III of Wellesley, MA, William F. Kent of Chicago, and Connor P. Flaherty of Denver, CO. He was predeceased by his son William P. Flaherty, sisters; Mary E. Flaherty and Ellen D. Flaherty.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday October 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 300 NH-25 Meredith, NH 03253. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, North Main Street, Wolfeboro, NH 03894.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gifford Youth Achievement Center, a 501 (c) (3), non-profit organization, 4875 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32967.The Mayhew Funeral 204 D.W.
