CANASTOTA >> Josephine Elizabeth Daddario Testa, 91, of Canastota, passed away peacefully at the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, where she had been a resident since February 2010, from complications due to Alzheimer's.She was born on July 22, 1925, in Solvay, the daughter of Daniel and Nicolina Riva Daddario. Josie was a graduate of Solvay High School, Class of 1943.On June 28, 1947, she was married to Joseph Testa at St. Cecelia's Church in Solvay.She worked for the Community Chest during WWII. With her husband, they owned and operated Syracuse Wholesale Toy Co., from 1950 to 1985. She lived in Lakeland and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church until retiring to 4th Lake, in Old Forge, N.Y., in 1985. Every January, they took a vacation; at first to Florida and then getaways to such places as Venezuela, Hawaii, and the Virgin Islands. They usually had weekend company at their place on 4th Lake and Josie was known as a kind and gracious hostess. In 1999, they moved to Canastota where she was a member of St. Agatha's Church and their Altar and Rosary Society.She was most loved by her family and will be greatly missed.Surviving besides her loving husband of 69 years, Joseph, are three daughters, Rosemary Scalessa (Tom Jowers), of Atlanta, Ga., Patricia Land (John Morrow), of Timmonsville, S.C. and Bobbie (Patrick J.) Testa Powers, of Canastota; a beloved brother, Isidore Daddorio, of Lakeland; three grandchildren, Patrick R. Powers, Riva (Matthew Ambler) Powers, and Joanna (Joe) McCumber; a great-granddaughter, Leah McCumber; and several nieces and nephews. Josie was predeceased by her beloved brother, Patsy Daddario, in 1944Josie's family wishes to express their sincere thanks for the excellent care and attention she was given by the entire staff of the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility.A memorial service will be held at St. Agatha's Church, Canastota, at a future date. Interment will take place in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in Josie's memory to St. Agatha's Church, 319 N.
