Josephine Zendejas Ramirez Obituary

Jul 07, 1929 - Nov 07, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Josephine Zendejas RamirezAbilene, TXOur beloved grandmother, Josephine Zendejas Ramirez, 88, passed away peacefully Monday, November 6, 2017 at her grandson's home, Chris Ramirez and wife, Jennifer. Along with their youngest son, and grandma's boy, Aiden. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren when her loving Father called her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00PM, Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, 2525 Westview Drive, with Father Lorenzo Hatch officiating. Burial will follow at the Abilene Municipal Cemetery, directed by Abilene Funeral Home. Josephine was born on July 6, 1929 to Maria and Prisciliano Zendejas in Coleman, Texas. She was the youngest of six siblings; brothers, Nino, Ramon, and Philip; and two sisters, Susie and Luisa. While a teenager, she met and married the love of her life, Daniel Ramirez. Their family included six children, Linda Zapata and husband, Charles, Daniel Ramirez Jr. and wife, Linda, Victor Ramirez and wife, Ruth, George Ramirez and wife, Teresita, Chris Ramirez, and Priscilla "Prissy" Fowler; and one grandson she raised as a son, Joseph Ramirez. Josephine Ramirez was a feisty woman. Whether it be scolding her husband "Daniel!" for picking on the grandkids or interrupting her novelas, or giving her great-grandkids rides on her scooter, she was a woman with a passion for life. She loved gardening and would not let her wheelchair confine her. One could always find her in her yard tending the roses in honor of the Blessed Mother Mary. Her devotion to her faith is the only thing that surpassed her devotion to her family. She loved her family in good times and in bad, through sickness and in health. Josephine and Daniel lived in a little house on Pueblo street for over 35 years. In it, they welcomed 17 grandkids and many great grandchildren and even great-great grandchildren. After Daniel died, Josephine became the grandma figure to the neighborhood with kids and friends calling her "Grandma." Josephine will be missed by all of her family including nieces, nephews, and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Prissy; her daughter-in-law, (wife to Chris) Debbie; and her loving husband, Daniel.
