Joshua K. Sears, 28Yorktown - Joshua K. Sears, 28, of Yorktown passed away unexpectedly from an existing heart condition on Friday, June 16, 2017, at his home in Yorktown. Josh was born on July 18, 1988, in Muncie, Indiana. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 2007-2015 under his favorite C.O., Robert Lockwood. He was an Iraqi veteran. He attended Ivy Tech Community College and graduated top of his class from NCR Academy in 2014. He currently worked at Kleenco Inc. under special supervisor, Victor. Josh enjoyed golfing with his dad, reading, and was an accomplished chef. He was a dog advocate who loved animals. Most of all he enjoyed spending time playing basketball, board games, drawing, and cooking together with his cherished daughter, Sydney. And time spent time with his dog, Trina; and his many friends and family. Josh is survived by his nine-year-old daughter, Sydney; parents, Kim and Rebecca Sears; brother, Corey Sears; loving grandmother, Diane Robinson; aunts and uncles, Woody and Emily Sears, Scott and Melissa Lockwood, Rebecca Monroe, Tom and Cindy Robinson, Steve and Tami Robinson, Marcia Lockwood, Molly Nichols and Tommy Morrow, Jeff and Wendy Nichols, and Donny Poor; his former wife, Destiny Sears; grandmother, Miriam Lockwood; his girlfriend, Holly Crisp and her son, Kaiden; his best friends, Gregg and Kristen Lewis and their children, Gregg Jr. and Josh's God-daughter, Lily; his life-long friends, Alex Plant and Justin James; many special friends from Concordia Lutheran School in Ft. Wayne; many fellow soldiers; many great-aunts, including Beverly Stassen; great-uncles, and many special cousins Josh grew up with. Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Ada Sears; grandfather, Bruce Robinson; great-grandparents, A.C. and Margaret Stanley and Mildred and Bob Robinson; aunt, Kristen Robinson; uncle, Dennis Monroe; and great-uncle, Gordon Stanley. A funeral service to celebrate Josh's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017, at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. Pastor Dave Warren will officiate. Burial will follow in Hawk Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017, and one hour prior to services on Friday at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel.
