Joshua Scott ShackelfordAge: 24 • StauntonJoshua Scott Shackelford, 24, of 1243 Middle River Road passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016 at his residence.Mr. Shackelford was born on December 8, 1991 in Harrisonburg, Virginia, a son of Jeffery Scott Shackelford and Debra Kay (Snyder) Leo.Joshua was a member of Wayside Baptist Church and a 2010 Graduate of Fort Defiance High School where he excelled in baseball and football. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, riding horses, spending time outdoors and reading his Bible. Joshua was a friend to many, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others in need.Mr. Shackelford was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Juanita (McCauley) Fletcher.In addition to his mother and father, Joshua is survived by his step-father, Stephen Leo of Staunton; his father's friend, Robin Nevins, of Verona; a sister, Elizabeth Brooke Weeks and her husband Jordan of Vesuvius; a niece, Clara Weeks; a nephew, Landon Weeks; maternal grandparents, Hugh David, II and Betty Lou (Aker) Snyder of Staunton; a special great-uncle, Gregory "Peck" Shackelford and his wife Joan; and his pet dog "Diesel."The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 in Wayside Baptist Church, 45 Turk Mountain Lane, Waynesboro by Pastor Jerry Cline.Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.Active pallbearers will be Ray Meyers, Joshua Massie, Ethan Jewell, Dakota James, Jakob Wimer, Holston Norman and Addison Daniel.It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to A.C.A.P.
