It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Josie Francois, beloved spouse, mother, and grandmother, on May 24, 2023. She was born on March 10, 1943 in Port-au-Prince, Ouest, Haiti, to loving parents Joseph and Marie Francois.
Josie was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew her. Her warm smile, infectious laughter, and kind heart endeared her to everyone she met. She was a devout Catholic and faithful member of her parish, where she volunteered as an usher and sang in the choir. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
After completing her education in Port-au-Prince, Josie began her career as a nurse, caring for patients with compassion and kindness. She was an integral part of her community, advocating for healthcare and educational opportunities for the underprivileged. Her selfless service to others was a testament to her strong character and unwavering faith.
Josie had a passion for cooking and loved to share her delectable creations with family and friends. Her signature dishes, including legume and griot, were always a hit at gatherings. She was also an avid gardener, filling her yard with a kaleidoscope of beautiful flowers and plants.
Josie is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Pierre, her three children, Marie, Jean, and Luc, and her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She also leaves behind her siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who will always remember her kindness and generosity.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Josie's memory on Sunday , June 4, at Sainte Trinite Parish in Port-au-Prince. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the local hospice or cancer society.
Josie Francois will be deeply missed, but the memories of her love, laughter, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
