Josie Snider BasallaZANESVILLE: Josie Snider Basalla, 94 of Zanesville died at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 03, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of hospice.She was born on June 24, 1921 in New Lexington, Ohio the daughter of Lyman Joseph Hammond and Cordella "Della" (Flowers) Hammond.Josie was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, a homemaker & also retired after 20 years at Zakany's Foodtown. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She is survived by 11 children, Carol Pendexter of Pataskala, Kay (Jim) Brock of Zanesville, Mary Jane (Larry) Lawson of Zanesville, Art (Cindy) Snider of Zanesville, Bob (Dorothy) Snider of Portland, Ore., Theresa (Mike) Curry of Massillon, Roger (Kay) Snider of Nashport, Janice (Leonard) Cameron of Newcomerstown, Rick (Tonya) Snider of Columbus, Lois (Steve) Wolfe of Zanesville and Jerry (Kathy) Snider of Zanesville; 31 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her 3 step children, Janice (David) Fluharty of Newark, Randy (Paula) Basalla of Knoxville, Tenn., Melodie Taylor of Zanesville and their children and grandchildren .Josie was preceded in death by her Parents, husband Steve Basalla on Dec. 30, 2007, her first husband George Snider on July 22, 1984, 5 brothers and 6 sisters. Also preceding her in death were 2 daughters, Mary Ann and Linda, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.Friends may call 2 to 4 pm Sunday, March 06, 2016 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, March 07 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church with Fr. Chris Saliga as celebrant. Burial will conclude at the Mt. Olive Cemetery on East Pike and a celebration of her life to follow at the
VFW on Moxahala Ave., Zanesville.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church, Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd., Newark OH 43055 and Muskingum County Animal Shelter.
