She was born on May 26, 1932, in Murray, Utah to Lewis Arnold and Ora Berry Arnold. On October 14, 1948, she married Lester Paul Blackburn in Cedar City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George, Utah, LDS Temple. Together they welcomed six children into their home. Joy was an excellent homemaker, seamstress, gardener, journal keeper, singer, barber, family historian, volunteer, needle-worker, and mastered the art of herbal medicine. She was extremely resourceful in all areas of living and was a beloved companion and helpmate to her husband. She was a great resource of information for all who called upon her. She had many dear friends and relatives. She was well read in many subjects and strived throughout her life to gain knowledge through books, service, and life experience. She was a valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities through the years including Relief Society President, Young Women's Leader, Compassionate Service Leader, and Primary Leader. Joy had an endless love for her Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. During the last five years of her life, she resided at Latter-Days Assisted Living/Country Lane Assisted Living, where she gained wonderful friends. We would like to thank First Choice Hospice and especially Tangi Perry, for the dedicated service offered to Mom during her final weeks, as well as Tina Ward, who was her special helper for several years. We would also like to thank all the wonderful CNA's who lovingly cared for Mom during her stay at the care center.Joy is survived by Terry Dale Blackburn (Mary Ann) of Las Vegas, NV, Donald L Blackburn (D'anne) of Mapleton, UT, Brett A Blackburn (Stacee) of Aurora, UT, Paula Blackburn Lee (James) of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Scott L Blackburn (Joelle) of Monroe, UT, and Penny Blackburn-Reeves (Benjamin) of Santaquin, UT, 38 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
