Joy W. CollinsWEST LAFAYETTE: Joy W. Collins passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the age of 89. She was born on August 13, 1926 to the late Forrest and Ethel Groves. After a wartime courtship by mail, she married Delmas "Jim" Collins. While Jim was the family entertainer, Joy was its heart. Joy was a graduate of secretary school and put those skills to use until the arrival of the couple's three daughters, Jill (Richard Evans), Holly, and Erin (the late Johnny Butler). A doting grandmother who was always a phone call away, Joy showed her affection with baking, ironing, and many, many greeting cards. She showed that affection often and to everyone. She was a founding member of the West Lafayette Junior Guild, a longtime parishioner of the West Lafayette Methodist Church, a member of the Eastern Star, a frequent patron of the West Lafayette Library, and with her husband Jim, spent many, many years supporting the Ridgewood Music Boosters. When asked about her hobbies, Joy said she had just one: her grandchildren, Jeremey (Krissy), Brandon (Natalie Prater), Rob (Kelly), Haley, Meredith, McKayla, and her new great granddaughter, Evelyn Rose, along with her many furry grandchildren. She was also love by Tarney and Kelly Rine, the Prater family, the Roberts family and the Locke family. She spent hundreds of hours as the number one fan of the All-Ohio Youth Choir, the Cardinal Chorale and the Ridgewood Drama and Music Departments. Joy is preceded in death by husband, D.E. Jim Collins, daughter Holly Rine, and siblings Janice, Ronald, and Roger.Observing the family's wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ridgewood Drama Department (602 Johnson Street, West Lafayette, Ohio 43845) or the Cardinal Chorale (P.O. Box 27, Coshocton, Ohio 43812).
