We regret to announce the passing of Joyce Welch, beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, on June 23, 2023. Joyce was born on July 22, 1936, in Covington, Virginia, to the late Layman and Mary E Weikle.

Joyce was married to the late Sidney Welch for 35 years, where they shared many cherished vacations and memories together.

Joyce was a very caring mother to 3 and blessed with 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

Joyce graduated from Covington High School in 1954 and later worked at Wachovia Bank and Trust for 35 years. She was a dedicated employee who was respected and admired by all who knew her.

Joyce was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church in King NC. As well as a member of King Chapter #328 Order of the Eastern Star and King American Legion Post 290.

Joyce will be remembered for her kind heart, her unwavering faith, and her love for her family. She will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce is preceded in death by two of her children, John Stogdale and Tanya Stogdale Darnell.

Surviving family includes her loving daughter, Marla Stogdale Tucker(James Greg Tucker)(Alan Beane), step children, Charles Welch(Joann) and Shirley Welch Laney(Terry), 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on June 28th at 3pm, at Trinity United Methodist Church in King NC, followed by a celebration of life service conducted by David Darnell.

The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to all, for the love, concern, prayers and visits. As well as appreciation to Trellis Supportive Care for the loving care that was provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Trellis Supportive Care of Walnut Cove, 810 S. Main Street, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
