Joyce A. Adelsen1923 - 2016 Joyce A. Adelsen, 92, of Kenosha passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at Aurora Medical Center with her loving family by her side.Joyce was born on Dec. 21, 1923, in Kenosha to Burt and Emma (Borkenhagen) Holderness. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Kenosha High School. She married Kenneth E. Hendrickson on Oct. 19, 1946, and he passed away in Jan. 1947. Joyce married Anker Adelsen at St. Mary's Lutheran Church on Jan. 8, 1949, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1998. She worked as a clerk at Snap-On Tools and for 17 years at Werner Laundry. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church. Joyce was involved in the church Prayer Breakfast Group, Caritas group, quilt makers and Sweet Adeline's Inc. She loved to sing and was a member of the church choir for many years and retired from the Riverport Chorus. Joyce enjoyed needlework, crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed playing poker, Mah Jong and was an avid reader. Joyce's greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.She was also preceded in death by, her parents; her daughter, Lauri Kretschmer and two sisters, Lorraine Koldenborg and Bernice Franklin.Joyce is survived by, two children, Erik (Denise) Adelsen of Colorado, and Marcia Gaston of Kenosha; a son-in-law, Greg Kretschmer of Kenosha; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and two to be born in 2016 as well as other family and friends.Funeral services for Joyce will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at St. Mary's Lutheran Church (2001 – 80th Street). A visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
