Joyce E. Aber RACINE Joyce E. (nee: Petersen) Aber, 93, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013, surrounded by the love of her family. Joyce was born on May 2, 1919 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the late Martin and Hannah (nee: Jensen) Petersen. On June 2, 1940 Joyce was united in marriage to Gilbert Aber in Dubuque, Iowa. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, a Diaconate, past president of American Baptist Women and a member of the Knit- Wits Club. Joyce had been a cook for Elmwood Bar and Restaurant. Joyce is survived by her sons, Cory (Lois) Aber of Appleton, John (Cathy) Aber and Paul (Kathy) Aber, one daughter-in-law, Linda Aber all of Racine, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Jean Aber. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert on June 10, 2001, son, Charles Aber on November 19, 1999, brother, Walter Petersen and sisters, Vivian Pivovar and Mildred Petersen. Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. Joyce will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Wayne and Jean Aber and Oak Ridge Care Center for the loving care provided to Joyce.
