Joyce May LawlisSan AntonioJoyce M. Lawlis left this Earth on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 85, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born on May 19, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio. Joyce was a wonderful mother and devoted Christian, and she worked as a registered nurse until her retirement after a stroke in 1992. She had been a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout leader, and local volunteer during her younger years. For over five decades she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in San Angelo. Joyce was also a member and served with Catholic Daughters of America. She loved her family, grandchildren, music, dominos, and her Dallas Cowboys. She loved to smile, and was generous to the end. Many people comment on loving to hear her laugh.She is preceded in death by her parents, Ludwig and Frances Hrebar Zuzek and her husband Howard Fount Lawlis.Joyce will be dearly missed by her surviving four children, Joseph Lawlis, Mary Ann Ford, Linda Hearne, and John Lawlis, as well as her six grandchildren, Grant Ford, Colby Vignes, Jason Hearne, Callen Hearne, Bryson Hearne and Graham Lawlis, and her sweet great-granddaughter, Emery Vignes as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services with a Rosary were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in the Johnson's Funeral Chapel with Deacon Steve Zimmerman officiating. Interment followed in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
