Raatz, JoyceJoyce I. Raatz, 86, Township of Plover, Marathon County, died Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Cloverleaf Terrace, Birnamwood.She was born on January 4, 1930 in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Edward and Viola (Scheutz) Jorgensen.On October 4, 1952, Joyce was united in marriage to Arden Raatz at Bethany Lutheran Church, Easton. He survives.Joyce worked in the accounts payable department for the Wausau School District for 28 years, retiring in 1994. She was active in church activities from an early age, attending youth activities, choir and playing an old fashioned pump organ. She served as President of the Ladies Circle at Bethany Lutheran Church for many years. Joyce enjoyed singing her favorite hymns and songs in harmony with her mother-law, sister-in-law and daughter. The hymns sung with the choir for worship was her witness and testimony of the love of God. Joyce was also a member of the Red Hats and enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking and spending time with her family.Survivors include her husband, Arden Raatz, Township of Plover; two children, Gary (Polly) Raatz, Pine Island, MN and Sharon (Bruce) Bloch, Wausau; six grandchildren, Abbie (Judd) Redalen, Fritz (Xanthe Kountains) Raatz, Becky (Steven) Kramer, Greta (Chris) Boudreau, Hannah (Jay Duncan) Raatz and Rudy (Tina) Raatz; six great-grandchildren and one brother, Jim (Karen) Jorgensen, CA. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by four brothers, Vernon, Donald, Edward and Lee Jorgensen and one sister, Shirley Rydell.The Funeral will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Town of Easton, Marathon County. Rev. Gary Froseth will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30am until the time of services at the church.
