KINSTON - Juanita Rae Quinn Gargano Pruitt, 70 passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at her home after an extensive battle with emphysema. Juanita was born on December 9, 1940, in Kinston to the late Edward Loftin and Verdie Mae Cox Quinn. She was the youngest of her five sisters. Mrs. Pruitt attended Grainger High School; she married the love of her life, Gennaro "Jerry" Gargano and they worked and co-managed BonHomme Shirt Company for many years until their retirement. Juanita was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends reminiscing about their lives. Later in life she married her second love, Harold Pruitt and the two of them spent a great amount of time traveling the country in their motor home, listening to music and enjoying each others company. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Hobby and two brothers, Robert and Pete Quinn who died in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, from the chapel of Garner Funeral Home with the Reverend John Cranford officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday evening, at the funeral home and other times at her home, 2101 Westwood Drive. Survivors include her loving children, Christopher Perry Quinn and Matthew Paul Quinn and wife Karen Lee Quinn, all of Kinston; grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart, Matthew Aaron Quinn and wife Amanda, of Norwich, Conn., Mason Alexander Quinn, Mattison Alexis Quinn; and a great-granddaughter, Kylee Rae Quinn. She is also survived by her sisters, Sarah Hoak and Frances Turnage and husband Sam, all of Kinston, Betty Lyerly of Charleston, S.C.; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
