Judith Dell (Flickinger) BahneyPUT-IN-BAY: Judith Dell (Flickinger) Bahney passed away at her home in Put-in-Bay, OH, on South Bass Island on May 20, 2017, surrounded by family following a brief illness. She was 80 years old.Judie was born on August 4, 1936, in Detroit, MI, to James and Lillian "Billie" Flickinger. She graduated from Redford High School in 1954, and went on to attend Michigan State University for one year before transferring to the University of Colorado, where she graduated in 1958 with a B.A. in education.Judie worked as a fashion model and for the Michigan Bank in the personnel department.Judie spent many summer days on Middle Bass Island in Lake Erie where she met a dashing young pilot from South Bass named Robert Hubbard Bahney, Jr. The two married on Sept. 24, 1960, and moved to Cleveland where they started a family.The Bahneys built a home in Kirtland in 1968, where they lived for 20 years, then moved permanently to Put-in-Bay in 1987.Judie was an active member in the Put-in-Bay Yacht Club, serving as Auxiliary President in 1974 and later in the Silver Sails; and was also a member of the OWLS literary society, Daughters of the American Revolution, American Legion Post 542 Ladies Auxiliary, and the St. Paul's Episcopal Church altar guild. Judie served as sexton of the Put-in-Bay cemeteries for the last 25 years. She was known for her beautiful stained-glass artwork.She is predeceased by a sister, Lynn (Flickinger) Williams; survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert; devoted children Marilyn (Ben) Paselsky and Robert (Jennifer) Bahney III; grandchildren Nicholas and Michael Paselsky and Mearan Bahney; niece Judy Anne Williams; and nephew Carey "Kip" Williams.A Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 26 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Put-in-Bay, with interment at Maple Leaf Cemetery, followed by a celebration of Judie's life at Put-in-Bay Yacht Club. Memorial donations may be made to the Put-in-Bay Community Swim/Sail Program,
