ARIZONIA - Judi passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on March 10, in Arizona. She was born on June 9, 1938, in Townsend, Montana, the daughter of Howard Jefferson Doggett and Margaret Elizabeth (Veach) Doggett. Her childhood was spent on the family ranch near Townsend until 1954 when she moved with her parents to Washington, D.C. She graduated from St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Virginia, in 1956, then attended the University of Montana, and subsequently worked in New York City until joining her parents in Brussels, Belgium, in 1959. Later that year she enrolled at the Institute for American Universities in Aix-en-Provence, France, where she met her future husband and Racine native David. They were married in White Sulphur Springs, Montana, on August 5, 1961, and made their home in Racine where they have lived ever since.Judi was an active member of the Racine Curling Club since 1967, which became the center of her social life and where she developed many lifelong friendships. She was proud of being a part of the talented group of people who organized and ran the 1989 World Curling Championships in Milwaukee. She was also active in the St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary, and was a past president. She served on the board of Wheaton-Franciscan Healthcare - All Saints Foundation, and more recently has been on the board of the Racine Art Museum, currently chairing the Accessions and Exhibitions Committee. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her monthly book club meetings. Her hobbies and talents were directed toward gardening and decorating, for which she had a real flair. She was a member of the Harbor Lite Yacht Club where she was a Friday night regular. She enjoyed winters with cherished friends in Florida and, more recently, Arizona. She loved to travel and the memories of southern France, South Africa, and particularly her home-away-from-home, the Northwoods of Boulder Junction, Wisconsin. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 54 years, Dave, and her children Ben (Dawn) Flegel and Lora (Scott) Christensen, grandchildren Dean and Sean Flegel, her brother Bill of Bozeman, Montana; sister-in-law, Mary Doggett; brothers-in-law, Mike (Ann) Flegel, Jeff (Rosa) Flegel; nieces, nephews, family from coast to coast, and many treasured friends. She was preceded in death by parents Howard and Lib Doggett, and brother Jeff Doggett. Memorials to the Racine Art Museum or a are suggested. A memorial service will be held at a date and time to be announced.
