Julia June Shaffer, 101, of Shaffer Road, Brookville (Richardsville), died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at her daughter's home were she resided since 2004.She was born on June 31, 1913 in Richardsville. She was the daughter of Pearl Cyphert and Harriet Abelina (Van Norman) Cyphret. On January 22, 1936 she married Ward M. "Bill" Shaffer in Emerickville. They were married for 69 years before Mr. Shaffer passed away on May 23, 2005.A homemaker, she was the oldest member of the Richardsville United Methodist Church, a member of the Richardsville Social Center, and the Ladies Aid of Richardsville United Methodist ChurchShe is survived by one daughter, Pauline K. Thompson (John) of Richardsville, grandchildren Kelly Alfred (Brent) of Erie and Kevin Thompson (Angela) of Richardsville and great-grandchildren Johanna K. Thompson and Elijah J. Thompson, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by: Parents, husband, five brothers, Jay, Earl, Harold, Melvin, and Dale Cyphret and sister, Lucille Cyphret Doutt.Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17, 2015 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday, March 18 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Richardsville United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Richardsville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Clair Lundberg and The Rev. Donald Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the Riggs Cemetery, Warsaw Township, Jefferson County. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the McKinney Funeral Home, Main Street, Brookville.Memorials may be given to the Richardsville United Methodist Church, Richardsville Social Center, and In-Home-Solutions HospiceThe Family would like to thank neighbor Jackie Michelitsch and the staff of In-Home-Solutions Hospice for their many acts of kindness.
