Julia Lee Pankey Obituary

Dec 20, 1940 - Aug 05, 2024

This obituary is administered by:

Julia Pankey, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 5, 2024 in Hopewell, Virginia. She was born on December 20, 1940 to William Landis Roberts and Maria Ann Vaughn.

Julia married the love of her life, Robert Lee Pankey Sr, in 1957. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Robert Lee Pankey Jr and Teena Marie Pankey. Julia adored her grandchildren and spent countless hours spoiling them rotten.

Julia attended Hopewell High School and continued her education at the NEA Association. She dedicated her career to helping children, working at Patrick Copeland Elementary until her retirement in 1999. In her spare time, Julia volunteered with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization, always eager to lend a helping hand.

Julia was known for her infectious laugh, her kind heart, and her undying love for her family. She had a passion for helping underprivileged children in need and always went above and beyond to make a difference in their lives.

Julia's passing was due to complications from diabetes and high blood pressure. In her memory, her family asks that donations be made to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization.

Julia will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but we can find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her loved ones in heaven, probably organizing a big family reunion with plenty of good food and laughter.

You can to the family or in memory of Julia Pankey.
