Julia Pankey, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated educator, passed away on August 5, 2024, in Hopewell, Virginia. She was born on December 20, 1940, to William Landis Roberts and Maria Ann Vaughn.

Julia married her husband, Robert Lee Pankey Sr., in 1957, and together they had two children, Robert Lee Pankey Jr. and Teena Marie Pankey. She was a loving grandmother to her two grandchildren.

Julia attended Carter G. Woodson High School and furthered her studies at the NEA Association. She dedicated her career to helping children as an educator at Patrick Copeland Elementary, where she made a lasting impact on countless young lives before retiring in 1998.

Outside of her career, Julia was actively involved in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization, where she continued to support and mentor children in need. She had a deep passion for the Virginia Public Schools System and worked tirelessly to advocate for quality education for all.

Julia's passing was a result of complications from Diabetes and High Blood Pressure. Her legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to education will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
