Julia Ann "Annie" Young1939 - 2016Julia Ann Young of Monroe was born on July 31, 1939 in Hamburg, Arkansas to William and Willie (Howe) Hopper. They later moved to Empire, Oregon where she attended school and graduated from Marshfield High School. She married Dale R. Young Sr. on June 8, 1957. They settled in Coquille where they raised their family. Annie worked as a waitress in Coquille and Coos Bay. They later moved to Gold Beach where she managed the office at Jot's Resort. When Dale retired they moved to Monroe where she worked at the Dari Mart in Eugene and then at Wildwood Seed in Monroe until she retired. She enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling. She drove their motor home to Alaska where she hooked a 155 pound halibut. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She always had a smile on her face. Annie passed away peacefully on October 24, 2016 at her daughter's house in Noti, Oregon. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dale R. Young Sr. in 2012 and her daughter Sandra Lee Young in 2016. She is survived by her sister Biddy Ayres of Lakeside, two daughters Barbara A. Guse (David) of Eugene, and Willie A. Young (George Reed) of Noti, son Dale R. Young Jr. (Jeff Lee), of Fort Myers, FL, three grandchildren Shay Peeler (Curtis), Matthew Wylie, and Barry Ferren (Ryan), and seven great-grandchildren who put the twinkle in her eyes and brought her much joy. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 at McHenry Funeral Home in Corvallis, and a burial following at Alpine Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the .
