FINDLAY, Ohio — Julie Blake, 71, of Findlay passed away at 4:10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at her residence. She was born on June 20, 1943, to the late Marion T. and E. Kathryn (Hower) Feasel in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She first married Peter R. Torborg on June 19, 1965, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on February 20, 1995. She later married Dr. C.R. "Dick" Blake on May 7, 1998, and he survives. Julie is also survived by her sons, Matthew Peter (Emily) Torborg of Madeira, Ohio, and David Scott (Karen) Torborg of Alexandria, Virginia; her daughter, Karen Sue (Torborg) Shivers of Kingston Springs, Tennessee; stepchildren, Michael A. Blake of Columbus, Ohio, Janet E. Darnall of Findlay, Joseph D. (Midge) Blake of Montpelier, Ohio, and Anne K. (Michael) Swartz of Ellicott City, Maryland; sisters, Carolyn Feasel (Hal) Brockman of Ames, Iowa, and Elizabeth Feasel (Norm) Cox of Coldwater, Michigan; brother-in-law, Ronald Torborg; sister-in-law, Marilyn Torborg; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Wally Orr, Roger Darnall and Brent Shivers; golden retriever of 15 years, Molly Polly; and grandchildren, Maggie and Abby Shivers, James Peter "JP" and Corinne Torborg, Christian Peter, Andrew Martin, and Charlotte Evelyn Torborg. Julie was a 1961 graduate of New Haven, Indiana, High School; a 1965 graduate of Ball State Teachers College and the University of Toledo in Learning Disabilities. She worked as an elementary and high school teacher for the Findlay City Schools, South Bend, Indiana, and Hamilton, Indiana, and also taught school at St. Michael's, Owens Tech, Adult Education, and at the Hancock County Jail. She also sold real estate for several years. Julie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder and Stephens Minister and a member of the FPC Book Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and knitting. She volunteered at the Surgery Center, Hope House and Women's Shelter, teaching at both. Julie and Dick enjoyed many years in homes in Leesburg, Florida, and at Lake George, Michigan, with family and friends and cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and to Hawaii. Every person's life is a story and Julie loved listening to each one. There was always a book for her to read. She loved her family and friends very much. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Julie's name to Creative Living, 1531 Perry St., Columbus, Ohio 43201; or First Presbyterian Church, 2330 S. Main St., Findlay, Ohio 45840. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Ave., Findlay, Ohio. The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Holder Rich and the Rev. Patrick Cherry officiating.
