Julie SendelbachJulie Sendelbach died at home on Monday, April 24, 2017 as a result of metastases to the brain after beating breast cancer into remission. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her peaceful passing.Julie Ann Vondra was born on September 17, 1956 at St. Joseph Hospital in Mitchell, SD, the fourth of nine children to Jack and Lois Vondra. Julie grew up in Bridgewater, SD, attended elementary school at St. Stephens Catholic School and graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1974. She enrolled at Sioux Valley School of Nursing, graduating in 1977 with her RN degree and began her career at McKennan Hospital in June of that year. She worked on One East, the Emergency Room, Rehab Unit, then 26 years in the Gastroenterology department and finished in the Pre-Anesthesia Call Center. She gave 39 years and 10 months to Avera and loved it all, especially the countless friends and co-workers.Julie and Dave Sendelbach met in 1976 and were married in 1980. They had three sons, Drew, Luke, and Sean who are the joy of their lives. Julie made sure the boys took care of their school requirements as a priority, but also cheered them on with their many extracurricular activities. She was a proud mother and kept the family well-grounded. Julie was active in many parent-school functions as well as with her church, teaching religious education and cross-stitching roughly 75 baptismal cloths annually over the past 15 years.Julie is survived by her husband Dave, sons Drew, Luke (Alissa), and Sean, parents Jack and Lois Vondra, siblings Valerie (Bob) Mehlbrech, Dwight (Laurie) Vondra, Mark (Sherril) Vondra, Teresa (Kim) Potter, Sheila Schneider, and Chad (Kristi) Vondra, and 22 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Steve, her grandparents John and Mary Gaspar and Carl and Gertrude Vondra, and father in law Laurence (Bud) Sendelbach.Funeral Mass will be Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Church, 3601 Dudley Lane in Sioux Falls. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. There will be a visitation at Holy Spirit Church Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 6:00 PM; followed by a wake service at 7:00 PM. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
