Karen Marie Patton Obituary

Sep 25, 1960 - Jun 27, 2024

This obituary is administered by:

We mourn the passing of Karen Patton, who was born on September 25, 1960, in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents Jesse Murff Sr. and Gloria Jean Jennings whom both proceeded her in death. At the age of four, she, her mother Gloria and Stepfather William Jennings moved to Compton, California where she was raised. She attended Tibby elementary school, Davis Junior high school, and Compton high school. Karen was the oldest of her mother's 5 children: Dr. S. Charles Lindsey, Rhonda Joseph Lindsey, La Vern Jennings, La Shawn Jennings; and she was also raised with her uncle William Carr (whom proceeded her in death). She was the only female child of her father, Jesse Murff Sr. and Stepmother Elizabeth Ann Murff which includes her siblings: Johnny Murff, Jesse Murff Jr., TaRon Murff, Rickey Murff, Duane Murff, and Teddy Murff.

Karen departed this life to be in eternal peace on June 27, 2024.

Karen leaves behind five beloved children: Glen Pruitt Jr., DeAndre Patton, Rikisha Patton, Angela Patton, and Koiya Lochard. She also leaves behind 11 cherished grandchildren: Aniya Franklin, Glen Pruitt lll, King Pruitt (proceeded her in death), Tajanea Leonard, Major Pruitt, Jayla Ramsey, Skye Pruitt, Dezamier Patton, Sir Harris, Keliah Lochard, and Siriah Patton, her beloved dog Princetopher, (whom proceeded her in death) and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Throughout her life Karen was a hard working woman. She always worked to provide for her children. Karen worked diligently as a cashier for Walmart in Moreno Valley for 18 years until 2022. During her time at Walmart, she made many lifelong friends and extended family. Her charismatic and welcoming personality made it easy for people to love her. She was well known and respected by not only her co-workers, but her regular customers as well. Many of them who only checked out in her line if she was there. She often would share her experiences at work with her loved ones.

Aside from her career, Karen had a passion for spending quality time with her family, she loved enjoying movies together (especially scary movies with her grandchildren). She also had a talent for home decor, making her living space a warm and inviting place for those who entered. She was very much so a family oriented person. Some of her fondest memories came from times she spent with her family, whether at home, a holiday event, or traveling. As for her personal time to get away, everyone knew she loved her casino trips. She would go with a friend or with her daughter-in-law Tiffany for hours and come back happier than ever whether she won anything or not. Prior to the death of her mother Gloria, they would go together as well. During her life, Karen helped countless people simply because she cared about the lives of others, with no expectations of anything in return. She opened up her home and her heart for many, she listened without judgement, and she spoke truthfully and positively. She saw the best in humanity. She had a special ability of making you feel seen, heard, and cared for. Every place she lived and frequented from Compton, Lakewood, Stanton, Bellflower, Cerritos, Anaheim to Ontario, and finally Moreno Valley, she created and built bonds with people who will remember her for the rest of their lives. Though she did not attend church regularly, her faith in the Lord was tremendous. Karen truly was a fighter. Despite the many trials and tribulations she experienced throughout her life, she always pushed through countless times. Her strength from her faith was immeasurable. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and again in 2018. She fought through it and her faith never wavered. She was still fighting through her cancer, Even in her last moments, as cancer was not what she succumbed to. Some of her final words were "It's in God's hands, I trust him fully."

Karen will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She was such a pure, beautiful soul. The number of lives she touched is incredible. Her life will be celebrated and honored. Her voice, her laugh, and her smile will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Karen. Your work here on earth has been beautifully completed. Job well done.
