Karen L. (Olenik) McKennaAGE: 56 • MiddletownKaren L. (Olenik) McKenna, 56, passed away on August 18, 2017 at Seasons Hospice, Newark, DE. She was born on July 19, 1961 in Dover, DE to John S. (Sr.) and Mary Anne (Leveille) Olenik.Karen grew up in Dover. She graduated from Dover High School in 1979. After high school, she attended University of Delaware where she received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Karen was a CPA and worked for Delmarva Power for over 30 years.Karen married John (Kip) McKenna, Jr. in 1983 in Dover, DE. They were happily married for 34 years. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, going to the beach, watching Nascar and football games, playing games or making puzzles with family and friends.Karen is survived by her husband Kip of Middletown, DE; her son Kevin of Tampa, FL; her sister Christine Olenik of Wilmington, DE; brother John (Jill) Olenik, Jr., brother Daniel (Patricia) Olenik of Kennett Square, PA, sister Sharon (Richard) Davis of Wilmington and brother Andrew (Suzan) Olenik of Dover, DE and her many nieces and nephews and other relatives.Karen touched so many lives and truly lived her deep faith. She bravely fought a hard battle with her illness and is a model of love, patience, and strength to all who knew her.Visitation will be held Thursday evening, August 24th from 7-9 pm at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 25th at 10 am at St. Joseph Parish, 371 E. Main St., Middletown, DE.
