She was born on February 11, 1945, in Green Bay to Melvin and Florence (Moes) Pelkin.Karen was a 1963 graduate of Green Bay West High School. On June 4, 1966, she married Gary DeStarke. This past summer they celebrated 50 years together. Karen and Gary were members of the Corvettes of the Bay Club. Karen enjoyed spending time with their close group of friends from The Crazy 8. She loved flowers, birds, gardening, and spent many years boating. Karen was a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.She is survived by her husband, Gary DeStarke; three daughters, Donna (Lance) Arey, Dawn (Carl) Much, and Lori DeStarke (significant other, Ron Stachura); six grandchildren, Corine, Amanda, Shelvin, Dekota, Cassidy, and Garrett; great-grandson, Brent; her brother, Gary (Laura) Pelkin; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents.Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9.
