Karen Marie Modjewski,78, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. Karen was born on June 4, 1939, in Pike Lake, WI to Richard and Mary (Koskey) Andersen. She attended Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School. On May 11, 1957, Karen married Thomas Modjewski in Wausau. For the past 20 years, Karen owned and operated Day Or Nite Express Inc. with her family. She was a member of St. John XXIII Catholic Parish in Port Washington. Karen was a member of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), and the The Expedite Association of North America (TEANA). She enjoyed crocheting, reading, gambling, cooking, listening to old time country music, and riding shotgun with her husband. Above all, Karen enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and demonstrated a strong work ethic.Karen is survived by her husband, Thomas David Modjewski of Cedar Grove; son, Thomas Richard (Pacita) Modjewski Jr. of Cedar Grove; three daughters, Kari (Raymond) Schicker of West Bend, Dawn (Steve) Wood of Belguim, Debbi (John) Wishman of Oostburg; 14 grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Schicker, Brent (Janel) Schicker, Tanya Schicker, Timothy Modjewski, Erin (Jeff) Satterburg, Adam Wood, Emili (Jonathan) Butrin, Ashley (Todd) Schwarten, Sara (Andrew) Bemman, Anna (Jeff) Schmit, Melissa (Carlos Hernandez) Rewolinski, Brittney Schnur, Brandon Wishman, Briana Wishman; and 26 great-grandchildren. Karen is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mary Andersen; one sister, Eleanore Walkowski; one brother, Robert Andersen; and two Great-Grandchildren, Gemma Schwarten, and Todd Michael Schwarten. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Karen's life will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at St. Therese Catholic Church located at 113 W. Kort St, Rothschild, WI 54474. A burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau.Relatives and friends may greet the family at Wenig Funeral Homes in Oostburg on Monday, August 7, 2017, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Tuesday, at the CHURCH from 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:30 pm.A memorial fund is being established in her name for Sheboygan County Christian High School.The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Allan Torkelson, Dr. Charles Marn, the drain team at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin, Heartland Hospice, and Gail Drake.
